More Efficient User Experience

Search video by intrusion and access events

You can now leverage event data from intrusion and access control systems to improve exacqVision search results and provide a comprehensive security picture.  Easily search an access control badge number to obtain video of all entry points a specific employee has accessed, all without the need to set up metadata alarm events.

search.search results

Create a case from Live view

Bookmarking and case management are very effective tools used to tag and retain important surveillance video and events.  Version 8.6 improves this powerful functionality by allowing you to create a case directly from Live view, which includes all cameras that are actively being monitored.  When exported, a collection of clips will be contained in chronological order from different cameras monitoring the viewing area.  Quickly creating cases directly from live view, without needing to do a full video search, saves significant time when generating critical video evidence.  The streamlined bookmarking capabilities will have an immediate impact on security efficiency.

case from live2

Client theme customization

You can now completely customize the exacqVision client UI;  from custom icons to colors and gradients, you can tailor exacqVision to fit your security deployment needs.

Better Mobile Performance

View partitions and zones

Exacq Mobile app users can now view all partitions and zones – along with the status of each zone – from one screen. Simply touch a specific partition or zone on your device, and you can view video and arm, disarm, or bypass alarms for that area. This is true video management on the go!

Improved frame rendering, clear status and error info

Frame sharing when duplicate streams are selected, and improved frame rendering all greatly enhance the Exacq Mobile performance. Additionally, the mobile interface now displays errors and status information to give you the clear information you need to better manage security on the go.

Safer, Healthier System

Additional Cybersecurity measures

exacqVision 8.6 introduces additional cybersecurity measures including: support for complex passwords, and user lockout after a specified number of failed login attempts. These enhancements all help to make exacqVision a more secure VMS.

exacqVision 8.0 Release Introduces Suspect Tracking

exacqVision 8.0, the latest release of exacqVision video management system [VMS] software, is now available from Exacq.

Software Downloads

Watch this video to see the new features in exacqVision 8.0.

exacqVision 8.0 highlights:

Suspect Tracking

Suspect Tracking allows users to follow a person or object of interest through an entire scene faster. Users can configure CameraLinks, also seen as Associations in the client configuration, to set up a series of links between multiple camera views displayed by overlay boxes in live view. Each polygon can be customized by border and transparency and placed wherever you’d like in the range of view. By left double-clicking on the polygons in the live camera view, users can navigate through the scene following a person of interest.

Users can also dynamically build an export of suspect tracking in exacqVision search greatly simplifying finding video evidence. Start with the first camera of the scene and expand to additional cameras. Once all the cameras in the scene have been added, then bookmark the video and label for export.

Exacq Suspect Tracking

Under the Configuration page, navigate to the new Suspect Tracking tab. Click ‘New’ and draw the box on the camera view. Under ‘Area Configuration’ choose the camera and set the background and border.  A slider bar for opacity of the background and border can be set.

suspect-tracking-configuration

To configure suspect tracking faster on an enterprise system, select the ‘Generate from Map’ button. exacqVision will generate default links on the cameras based on  which camera is closest on the map.

Available for exacqVision Professional and Enterprise VMS software.

New CameraLinks

CameraLinks put the most needed controls at the user’s fingertips in live view.

  • Enable and disable digital PTZ mode from live view via the new CameraLink.
  • Access exacqReplay directly from live view within CameraLinks for an instant replay of video and audio events. View video in segments of  5 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes to 15 minutes.

exacqReplay CameraLink

Archive Bookmarks

Archive Bookmarks allows users to create a second copy of important video. Adding to the direct archive search introduced in exacqVision 7.8, archive bookmarks enhances video archiving to provide faster access to video and better manage bandwidth. Users closer to the archive location on the network can directly search video on the archive without routing data through the recorder.

Enable archive bookmarks on the archiving target location by selecting the “Archive All Bookmarks” checkbox on the Archiving Schedule page. This applies to all bookmarks created on the specific recorder and will not restrict by camera or day. Bookmarked video will not delete until the bookmark is removed from the recorder.

At-Most Rule on Archive

exacqVision users can enable a rule to define an expiration of maximum number of days of video to retain. The at-most rule applies to all video on the archive target and not defined per-camera.

On the Target tab, turn on the expiration configuration and select the number of days.

Inactivity Timeout

Operators can now configure exacqVision to timeout after a specific period of inactivity to conserve bandwidth. This new feature is configured per client. While the camera and client stay connected to the recorder, users can simply mouse over the client to resume viewing video.

exacqvision-8-0_inactivity-timeout

On the client configuration page, users can check the ‘enable’ box and specify the number of minutes to disconnect the live streams after.

View the Inactivity Timeout pop-up box to alert users the live streams will disconnect due to inactivity.

Stream Rate Control

exacqVision 8.0 introduces two new ways to configure camera stream bandwidth to the recorder. The existing constant quality setting is still available in addition to  the new constant bitrate and maximum bitrate settings. Set the stream to maintain quality or maintain bitrate to more consistently manage bandwidth and storage usage.

Constant Quality

  • Set the quality from 1-10 as in previous releases of exacqVision

Constant Bitrate

  • Set bitrate and the stream will adjust quality as needed

Maximum Bitrate

  • Set the quality from 1-100  and a maximum bitrate [Note the quality slider is a scale the same as the camera]
  • Stream maintains quality until it hits the maximum bitrate

Available for the following camera brands:

  • Illustra
  • Axis Communications
  • Arecont Vision
  • Hikvision

Camera Name and Serial Data Background

Users can now customize the text and background color for the camera name and serial data displayed in live mode to make the information easier to read in specific environments.

  • Font
  • Size
  • Effects color
  • Background Color
  • Background Opacity [0-100%]

exacqVision 7.0 introduces Camera Links, which allow exacqVision users to configure overlay controls that will display when hovering over a camera in live view. Camera Links give exacqVision Professional and Enterprise users the ability to put their most important commands at their fingertips and improve their response time to critical alarms and events.

Camera Links are completely customizeable. Users can adjust the text color, font, style, transparency and location on screen to fit the specific camera view needs from the camera settings page. Under the associations tab, users can select the available controls, associated controls and display options.

The overlay controls include:

  • Audio inputs and outputs
  • Alarm outputs
  • Input triggers
  • Soft triggers
  • Serial data
  • Manual record

EasyConnect Status Messages

The EasyConnect feature on the exacqVision VMS software allows users to find, assign, address and connect certain IP cameras to their network automatically. Camera connection in exacqVision 7.0 has been improved to show more detailed connection status feedback when connecting Illustra IP cameras and exacqVision E-Series encoders. There are now more than 20 unique status messages. Each message is color-coded for fast identification of issues. Users can hover over the status for troubleshooting guidance. Connection messages include:

  • Duplicate IP address
  • Address not responding
  • Address found but device not responding
  • Wrong username/password
  • Video not streaming
  • Camera time unsynchronized

EasyConnect Status Messages

Having comprehensive, specific information regarding the connection and the suggested troubleshooting guidance saves users time and money during installation.

Watch our EasyConnect video to learn more about the feature that makes connecting IP cameras as easy as analog.

Automatic Check for Client Updates

Check for UpdatesThe exacqVision client can now be configured to automatically check for new updates. To enable the automatic check, go to the “About” button in the client and check the new option, “Automatically check for updates.” The client will check 30 seconds after it opens for new updates.

Visual Hard Drive Storage Status

exacqVision 7.0 adds a graphical representation of hard drive status for exacqVision systems equipped with RAID storage such as the exacqVision Z-Series, A-Series and S-Series. When a drive failure occurs, exacqVision users will see a display that indicates the physical location of the drive that needs replaced, minimizing the risk of removing the wrong drive. Go to the storage page under the hardware tab to see the graphic assessment of the hard drive status.

Exacq MobileExacq Mobile

Several improvements to Exacq mobile have been added in this release including event monitoring and two-finger swipe capabilities.

The Exacq mobile app now supports viewing event monitors that have been configured within the exacqVision client. Event monitoring ensures mobile app users are aware of the most important video relating to events like motion detection, alarms and other triggered inputs to the system.

Exacq mobile also introduces a new two-finger swipe navigation for faster review of all camera views. Users can swipe to the left to load the next set of cameras into the viewing layout.

The web client now has a server configuration page for monitoring and managing servers.

Administrators can back up the settings of all exacqVision servers across the enterprise at one time. Users can also specify which servers are backed up with a filter.

ESM Open and Unacknowledged Events

View all open events as well as new, incoming unacknowledged events within one dashboard in ESM. This prevents the user from switching back and forth from two different lists. Under the list section in the dashboard is a new option “Open or Unacknowledged Events” which includes both lists into one.

ESM Filter Indication

ESM users can see a visual indication when filters are active on a page. This icon prevents a user from getting confused why all results are not showing. A new clear filter button allows users to clear a data filter without having to open the filter dialog.

New IP Camera Support

We have added support for more than 75 new IP camera models in the exacqVision 7.0 release and updated over 240 test records. exacqVision now supports nearly 3,000 IP cameras.

exacqVision 6.6 Releases Focuses on Failover

The latest version of the exacqVision Video Management System (VMS), Version 6.6, is now available. The focus of this release centers around server failure detection and automatic recovery. With added support for over 100 new cameras in this release, the exacqVision VMS now supports nearly 2,200 IP camera models.

ESM Failover for exacqVision

The new Enterprise System Manager (ESM) Failover feature ensures the high availability of mission critical security video and data. ESM Failover helps avoid downtime by:

  • Continually monitoring exacqVision recorders for possible failures
  • Automatically moving functionality to “spare” servers in the rare event of a failure
  • Manual ESM Failover mode for maintenance of exacqVision recorders

Monitor

Restore recording functionality within minutes!

15 secondsHow fast is ESM Failover?
ESM failover is designed to detect a server failure within 15-30 seconds. This setting is configurable, so a long delay could be set to avoid failover during a reboot, for example. A manual failover mode also exists for performing tasks like system maintenance. In the event of an actual system failure, the spare recorder can be up and running within a matter of minutes.

Failover

What Fails Over?

  • Z-SeriesCameras
  • Recording Schedules
  • Users
  • Event Linking
  • Saved layouts, Views, Groups and Maps
  • Serial Profiles
  • Archiving configuration
  • Notification Rules
  • Auto Export Rules

Failover does not change the network identity of the protected recorder or spare in order to prevent duplicate IP addresses. Analog cameras and analog inputs are not part of ESM Failover due to wiring requirements of analog devices. Also note that the spare server storage doesn’t need to match the protected server, but should simply provide enough storage for anticipated downtime.

Failback
ESM will automatically failback to the protected recorder when available. The video from a failover remains on the spare server until manually moved back to the protected server.

Failover Requirements

Failover requires spare recorders, typically in the same family as the primary recorder, each with enough capacity to store video for the anticipated duration of the downtime. Failover also requires exacqVision camera licenses for the cameras being recorded. ESM Failover requires the Enterprise Server Option on an exacqVision server along with ESM running on a separate server.

EasyConnect Enhancements

The EasyConnect feature on the exacqVision VMS allows users to find, assign, address and connect certain IP cameras to their network automatically. EasyConnect enhancements in exacqVision 6.6 keeps the camera list fresh, guides administrators to the camera configuration page, and links to camera connection diagnostics to simplify the process even more.

New User Views Functionality

exacqVision 6.6 now allows users to create views based on user permission settings. This feature allows Administrators and Power Users to control the camera views for specific users. It also allows individuals to create personal views that cannot be used by any other exacqVision user.

User Views

Updated Event Monitoring

Event monitors automate client reactions to events (for example displaying a video of the front door when the front door is accessed). When used properly, event monitors convey situational awareness in busy environments to active users. exacqVision 6.6 provides increased flexibility and power to always display the most important video using the Event Monitor feature.

  • Use Event Monitoring to always keep YOUR most important live video in front of your users
  • Now with faster and easier set up of Event Monitoring rules
  • Apply new filters to the event list to find specific events
  • Drag any camera into Event Monitoring panel to see video
  • Higher ranked events fill in as they occur

Event Triggers

Brute Force / Dictionary Hacking DetectionHack Protection

Brute force hacking occurs when hackers try to guess network passwords with dictionary powered scripts. exacqVision 6.6 monitors login attempts and deters these attacks.

Enterprise System Manager version 3.0

In addition to the failover feature discussed above, ESM can now be used to manage a single user across many exacqVision servers, keeping the user’s permissions in sync and resolving user permission conflicts. With ESM version 3.0, users can be assigned to groups for easy management of multiple users. Another new feature of ESM includes the ability to automate client configurations, importing systems into the client specified for each user.

Z-Series Hot SparesexacqVision Z-Series logo

The exacqVision Z-Series recorders are now available with hot spares, for automatic replacement of failed drives. This is accomplished by defining one or more drives as hot spares in the RAID array. If a drive should fail, that volume is automatically brought online to replace the failed drive. A drive installed after repair automatically becomes the new hot spare.

Increased PTZ Control Responsiveness

exacqVision Joystick

Version 6.0 of the exacqVision VMS included smoother control and faster response for a number of IP PTZ cameras. With the 6.2 release, these improvements have now been expanded to include more camera manufacturers including Pelco, ACTi, Hikvision and UDP. You’ll really notice these improvements when using the exacqVision Surveillance Keyboard.

Expanded Support for Client-Side Dewarping with Panoramic/Fisheye Cameras

Exacq continues to build on its list of supported panoramic or “fisheye” cameras that allow for client-side dewarping. With client-side dewarping the entire panoramic field of view is always available–whether the user is in live or recorded mode. This works with the exacqVision client, the web browser client and even with the Exacq Mobile app. Client-side panoramic dewarping is more resource efficient, recording one video stream and eliminating the possibility of redundant recording. Version 6.2 of exacqVision adds client-side dewarping for the Illustra 825 and the Samsung SNV-7010 fisheye/panoramic cameras.
