Enterprise Manager:
An Integrated Part of exacqVision Enterprise

Advanced User Management Significantly Reduces Administration Time and Error

Manage by logical groups

Large enterprises often have complex organizational memberships – employees who work in various departments, contractors who shift between jobs, etc.  Enterprise Manager streamlines the administrative process by letting you define logical groups and associate users and NVRs to those groups.

Build hierarchies to easily cascade user roles

Administrators can now define how organizational groups are related to one another in hierarchies. This allows them to quickly assign NVRs and users to a group and its sub-groups, while also providing the ability to configure exceptions to group memberships that will cascade throughout the hierarchy to ensure consistency across the enterprise.

Expedite deployments by defining camera and device permissions from one screen

From a single screen, an administrator can leverage dynamic filtering of camera names to define users’ roles to specific cameras that span multiple NVRs. For enterprises with dozens or hundreds of NVRs, this saves a significant amount of time over navigating to each individual NVR to define the specific camera restrictions.

System Health Monitoring Ensures Proactive Response to Potential Issues

Intuitive dashboards and detailed reports improve response to ensure continual uptime

Enterprise Manager dashboards shows healthy, warning and error status for all cameras and NVRs at-a-glance, to ensure the fastest response to service issues and avoid down time. Detailed reports that show graphs of event trends, SSA status, network identification, and overall system health help security teams more quickly identify NVRs or cameras in need of service.

Customizable, push-driven notifications free up time and help avoid missed events

Quickly and easily set up natural language notification rules for any of 30+ events on specific cameras or NVRs for individual people or groups. From one screen, Enterprise Manager lets you easily create these event links and email profiles, and provides “lasts at least…” rules to ensure noisy systems do not generate too many events.

Dynamic Client Connection Management Streamlines the User Experience

Automatically synchronize permissions with camera access for faster connectivity

Enterprise Manager eliminates the manual process of granting camera access to a user who has been given permissions on a new NVR. By dynamically leveraging the user’s global credentials, Enterprise Manager provides faster connectivity to NVRs.

Support for Active Directory and LDAP for single sign-on

To increase security and compliance, more businesses are using single sign-on throughout their enterprise. Enterprise Manager helps perpetuate this by dynamically authenticating domain credentials via single sign-on for the client, eliminating the need for users to type in usernames and passwords.

Camera Inspection Workflow Ensures Safety and Compliance

Ensure camera scene quality with workflow-driven reviews

Enterprise Manager can capture reference images for every camera and provide review workflows to compare the current scene to the reference scene.  Scenes that don’t meet the quality of the reference image can be marked for technician follow-up.  Easily filter reviews by last review date, camera name and other criteria to help segment image reviews of large environments.

Avoid Prolonged Downtime with Configuration Backups and Version Updates

Manual and scheduled backups

The Enterprise Manager supports manual and scheduled backup of NVR configurations to enable faster recovery of security operations and improve safety.  Once backed up, configuration files can be restored if unwanted configuration changes are made.  With multiple backups, recovery from un-intended configuration changes is also possible.

Easily schedule version updates

Admins can also use Enterprise Manager to easily schedule software updates across the environment – either caching the update for NVRs to pull from, or having the NVRs pull directly from exacq.com.  Enterprise Manager can also push notifications to clients to prompt users to update their client version to ensure they have the very latest enhancements and fixes to ensure optimal operation.

exacqVision 8.0 Release Introduces Suspect Tracking

exacqVision 8.0, the latest release of exacqVision video management system [VMS] software, is now available from Exacq.

Software Downloads

Watch this video to see the new features in exacqVision 8.0.

exacqVision 8.0 highlights:

Suspect Tracking

Suspect Tracking allows users to follow a person or object of interest through an entire scene faster. Users can configure CameraLinks, also seen as Associations in the client configuration, to set up a series of links between multiple camera views displayed by overlay boxes in live view. Each polygon can be customized by border and transparency and placed wherever you’d like in the range of view. By left double-clicking on the polygons in the live camera view, users can navigate through the scene following a person of interest.

Users can also dynamically build an export of suspect tracking in exacqVision search greatly simplifying finding video evidence. Start with the first camera of the scene and expand to additional cameras. Once all the cameras in the scene have been added, then bookmark the video and label for export.

Exacq Suspect Tracking

Under the Configuration page, navigate to the new Suspect Tracking tab. Click ‘New’ and draw the box on the camera view. Under ‘Area Configuration’ choose the camera and set the background and border.  A slider bar for opacity of the background and border can be set.

suspect-tracking-configuration

To configure suspect tracking faster on an enterprise system, select the ‘Generate from Map’ button. exacqVision will generate default links on the cameras based on  which camera is closest on the map.

Available for exacqVision Professional and Enterprise VMS software.

New CameraLinks

CameraLinks put the most needed controls at the user’s fingertips in live view.

  • Enable and disable digital PTZ mode from live view via the new CameraLink.
  • Access exacqReplay directly from live view within CameraLinks for an instant replay of video and audio events. View video in segments of  5 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes to 15 minutes.

exacqReplay CameraLink

Archive Bookmarks

Archive Bookmarks allows users to create a second copy of important video. Adding to the direct archive search introduced in exacqVision 7.8, archive bookmarks enhances video archiving to provide faster access to video and better manage bandwidth. Users closer to the archive location on the network can directly search video on the archive without routing data through the recorder.

Enable archive bookmarks on the archiving target location by selecting the “Archive All Bookmarks” checkbox on the Archiving Schedule page. This applies to all bookmarks created on the specific recorder and will not restrict by camera or day. Bookmarked video will not delete until the bookmark is removed from the recorder.

At-Most Rule on Archive

exacqVision users can enable a rule to define an expiration of maximum number of days of video to retain. The at-most rule applies to all video on the archive target and not defined per-camera.

On the Target tab, turn on the expiration configuration and select the number of days.

Inactivity Timeout

Operators can now configure exacqVision to timeout after a specific period of inactivity to conserve bandwidth. This new feature is configured per client. While the camera and client stay connected to the recorder, users can simply mouse over the client to resume viewing video.

exacqvision-8-0_inactivity-timeout

On the client configuration page, users can check the ‘enable’ box and specify the number of minutes to disconnect the live streams after.

View the Inactivity Timeout pop-up box to alert users the live streams will disconnect due to inactivity.

Stream Rate Control

exacqVision 8.0 introduces two new ways to configure camera stream bandwidth to the recorder. The existing constant quality setting is still available in addition to  the new constant bitrate and maximum bitrate settings. Set the stream to maintain quality or maintain bitrate to more consistently manage bandwidth and storage usage.

Software Downloads

Watch this video to see the exacqVision complete security solution and new features.

exacqVision 7.8 highlights:

Direct Archive Search

Direct Archive SearchexacqVision 7.8 enhances video archiving to provide faster access to video and better manage bandwidth. Users closer to the archive location on the network can directly search video on the archive without routing data through the recorder. Direct archive search is available for any exacqVision S-Series storage device and any third-party network share archive.

For customers that want to implement mobile video on vehicles such as trains, subways, and buses, exacqVision Edge+ VMS software on a camera can be used in combination with direct archive search to send video to the archive while at the station and view video from the archive while the vehicle is on duty.

Direct archive search can be enabled for exacqVision Professional and Enterprise users. To enable direct archive search, users can go to the Archiving page and select the enabled check box under the new Direct Search section and enter read-only username and password credentials that the client will use to access the network share.

Camera Connection Diagnostics

exacqVision will now provide guidance on all camera connections to resolve and troubleshoot camera connections faster. The new camera diagnostic information will reduce common technical support questions.

exacqVision_Camera_Diagnostics

Under IP Camera Information there is a new Troubleshooting Steps field that gives specific instructions to support connection scenarios for any camera manufacturer and model. Connection Diagnostics and descriptions include:

  • Different Subnet – IP of camera is on a different subnet and may not be reachable.
  • Duplicate IP – Device with the same IP address is already in the list
  • Wrong IP – Device of the same type was discovered at a different IP
  • Type Mismatch – Device of a different type discovered at the same IP
  • Bad Credentials – Camera is rejecting the username or password

Hard Disk Drive Serviceability

exacqVision will automatically run disk health checks for proactive notification when a NVR hard drive may fail.

HDD-Serviceability

On the Storage page under the Hardware tab, users can find the storage hardware disks. exacqVision will show a green check mark or red X indicating if the disk has failed or a HDD failure is impending.. Users can perform a self-test for a single disk or for all disks by clicking one of the two buttons: ‘start short test’ which typically takes seconds or ‘start long test’, which may take a few hours to complete. The status line under the properties section will display the drive failure and notify the user if a drive needs replaced. This feature is available exclusively on exacqVision network video recorders.

Bandwidth Control

exacqVision Professional and Enterprise users can configure bandwidth limitations to certain IP ranges and during specific hours to optimize traffic. Bandwidth can be customizable down to the Kbps or Mbps for greater control.

Bandwidth can be limited for:Bandwidth-Configuration

  • All Remote Client Access – affects all client traffic out of the recorder
  • WAN Client Access – affects all traffic on a different subnet
  • Defined IP Ranges – affects only the defined IP ranges

Bandwidth can be scheduled for specific days and start and end times. By default, it will be set to Everyday, All Day. For example, in retail applications, users may want to schedule WAN bandwidth restrictions around business hours so lines for credit cards can be used and during closed hours the bandwidth opens up.

MP4 Crop Export

exacqVision users can now export video files to MP4. Along with the new MP4 export feature, exacqVision provides users with the ability to crop the scene, add a subtitle and time stamp to any .EXE, .MOV or .MP4 video file. The ability to crop a scene gives users greater flexibility to meet privacy standards. In schools, administrators can crop the video event footage down to only include the necessary students involved instead of including the entire scene of students, which may violate privacy regulations.

exacqVision_mp4_export_cropping

Users can select the new scissors icon and draw a box around a specific area they would like to crop for the export, allowing them to focus on the necessary area of the event. The cropped image will add a black border with yellow text stating “cropped from original video” to the bottom of the exported file. Watermark authentication is also supported for .exe export.

Users can export files larger than 4GB. Files can still be exported as .exe, .avi and .mov in addition to the new .mp4 format.

Web Service Dashboard

The redesigned web service configuration page now displays performance and connectivity status in a new dashboard for convenient connection monitoring. The page now offers guidance and live status of server workloads and connected users. An easy to read, real-time graphic shows the current CPU and memory usage, the number of connected users and camera streams they are viewing. For further detail, the number of streams being transcoded is shown. The blue section indicates how much the web service is using and the dark gray shows how much the machine is using in total. Within a glance, users can see if the web service is encountering a high level of load. If there is a high number of users or high memory usage, it may be necessary to add hardware to improve performance.

exacqVision_WebConfigurationPage

Additionally, this page will provide guidance on connectivity:

  • Outbound Internet Connection -Confirms the web server can reach the Internet
  • Inbound Internet Connection – Confirms the Internet can reach the web server
  • Internet Address – Confirms the external IP or URL that users will enter into Exacq Mobile

ESM Failover for exacqVision

The new Enterprise System Manager (ESM) Failover feature ensures the high availability of mission critical security video and data. ESM Failover helps avoid downtime by:

  • Continually monitoring exacqVision recorders for possible failures
  • Automatically moving functionality to “spare” servers in the rare event of a failure
  • Manual ESM Failover mode for maintenance of exacqVision recorders

Monitor

Restore recording functionality within minutes!

15 secondsHow fast is ESM Failover?
ESM failover is designed to detect a server failure within 15-30 seconds. This setting is configurable, so a long delay could be set to avoid failover during a reboot, for example. A manual failover mode also exists for performing tasks like system maintenance. In the event of an actual system failure, the spare recorder can be up and running within a matter of minutes.

Failover

What Fails Over?

  • Z-SeriesCameras
  • Recording Schedules
  • Users
  • Event Linking
  • Saved layouts, Views, Groups and Maps
  • Serial Profiles
  • Archiving configuration
  • Notification Rules
  • Auto Export Rules

Failover does not change the network identity of the protected recorder or spare in order to prevent duplicate IP addresses. Analog cameras and analog inputs are not part of ESM Failover due to wiring requirements of analog devices. Also note that the spare server storage doesn’t need to match the protected server, but should simply provide enough storage for anticipated downtime.

Failback
ESM will automatically failback to the protected recorder when available. The video from a failover remains on the spare server until manually moved back to the protected server.

Failover Requirements

Failover requires spare recorders, typically in the same family as the primary recorder, each with enough capacity to store video for the anticipated duration of the downtime. Failover also requires exacqVision camera licenses for the cameras being recorded. ESM Failover requires the Enterprise Server Option on an exacqVision server along with ESM running on a separate server.

New User Views Functionality

exacqVision 6.6 now allows users to create views based on user permission settings. This feature allows Administrators and Power Users to control the camera views for specific users. It also allows individuals to create personal views that cannot be used by any other exacqVision user.

User Views

Updated Event Monitoring

Event monitors automate client reactions to events (for example displaying a video of the front door when the front door is accessed). When used properly, event monitors convey situational awareness in busy environments to active users. exacqVision 6.6 provides increased flexibility and power to always display the most important video using the Event Monitor feature.

  • Use Event Monitoring to always keep YOUR most important live video in front of your users
  • Now with faster and easier set up of Event Monitoring rules
  • Apply new filters to the event list to find specific events
  • Drag any camera into Event Monitoring panel to see video
  • Higher ranked events fill in as they occur

Z-Series Hot SparesexacqVision Z-Series logo

The exacqVision Z-Series recorders are now available with hot spares, for automatic replacement of failed drives. This is accomplished by defining one or more drives as hot spares in the RAID array. If a drive should fail, that volume is automatically brought online to replace the failed drive. A drive installed after repair automatically becomes the new hot spare.

Increased PTZ Control Responsiveness

exacqVision Joystick

Version 6.0 of the exacqVision VMS included smoother control and faster response for a number of IP PTZ cameras. With the 6.2 release, these improvements have now been expanded to include more camera manufacturers including Pelco, ACTi, Hikvision and UDP. You’ll really notice these improvements when using the exacqVision Surveillance Keyboard.

Expanded Support for Client-Side Dewarping with Panoramic/Fisheye Cameras

Exacq continues to build on its list of supported panoramic or “fisheye” cameras that allow for client-side dewarping. With client-side dewarping the entire panoramic field of view is always available–whether the user is in live or recorded mode. This works with the exacqVision client, the web browser client and even with the Exacq Mobile app. Client-side panoramic dewarping is more resource efficient, recording one video stream and eliminating the possibility of redundant recording. Version 6.2 of exacqVision adds client-side dewarping for the Illustra 825 and the Samsung SNV-7010 fisheye/panoramic cameras.

Enterprise System Manager

Enterprise System Manager

ESM (Enterprise Server Manager) is a new, extremely powerful, browser-based health monitoring system for the exacqVision VMS (Video Management System). ESM provides extensive server health monitoring across the entire surveillance system, alerting administrators when any critical server specifications fall out of normal range. There are more than 25 user-defined warnings that can be selected by the user for immediate notification. This proactive monitoring tool helps large installations improve uptime, reduce software maintenance, and diagnose problems before they become critical.

Use ESM to:

    • Maximize the uptime of your exacqVision Enterprise servers
    • Perform an instant health assessment of all exacqVision Enterprise servers from anywhere
    • Set-up highly flexible e-mail notifications
    • Instantly assess the health of the system using the new at-a-glance dashboard
    • Reduce software maintenance time
    • Monitor camera health

ESM is supported on exacqVision systems with an exacqVision Enterprise VMS license and replaces EHM (exacqVision Health Manager). For more information, visit the Enterprise System Manager web page.
