Resume Export

exacqVision video export will now automatically resume exporting after a system disconnects or reconnects. With this new feature, users will not need to restart a download.

Switch Client Keyboard Command

A new command gives exacqVision Surveillance Keyboard users the ability to switch client instances from the keyboard. With this new feature, exacqVision users can seamlessly and quickly control multiple clients from a single keyboard without ever taking their hand off the joystick.

exacqReplay in Web Client

The web client now supports exacqReplay. Simply right click the camera view to replay the video in increments of 5 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes or 15 minutes. This will open a new pop-up window or new tab in the current browser instance.

Enterprise System Manager Coordination

In Enterprise System Manager, administrators can ensure only one user is actively making changes to the server with the new server management feature. In environments where multiple ESM servers are used, the first ESM instance will define itself as the owner of the server, while other ESM servers will no longer have the ability to change settings. This new functionality automatically syncs actions being performed across multiple servers.

New IP Camera Integrations

We have added support for more than 50 new IP camera models in exacqVision 7.4 release and updated over 175 test records. exacqVision now supports nearly 3,000 IP cameras.

EasyConnect Status Messages

The EasyConnect feature on the exacqVision VMS software allows users to find, assign, address and connect certain IP cameras to their network automatically. Camera connection in exacqVision 7.0 has been improved to show more detailed connection status feedback when connecting Illustra IP cameras and exacqVision E-Series encoders. There are now more than 20 unique status messages. Each message is color-coded for fast identification of issues. Users can hover over the status for troubleshooting guidance. Connection messages include:

  • Duplicate IP address
  • Address not responding
  • Address found but device not responding
  • Wrong username/password
  • Video not streaming
  • Camera time unsynchronized

EasyConnect Status Messages

Automatic Check for Client Updates

Check for UpdatesThe exacqVision client can now be configured to automatically check for new updates. To enable the automatic check, go to the “About” button in the client and check the new option, “Automatically check for updates.” The client will check 30 seconds after it opens for new updates.

Visual Hard Drive Storage Status

exacqVision 7.0 adds a graphical representation of hard drive status for exacqVision systems equipped with RAID storage such as the exacqVision Z-Series, A-Series and S-Series. When a drive failure occurs, exacqVision users will see a display that indicates the physical location of the drive that needs replaced, minimizing the risk of removing the wrong drive. Go to the storage page under the hardware tab to see the graphic assessment of the hard drive status.

Exacq MobileExacq Mobile

Several improvements to Exacq mobile have been added in this release including event monitoring and two-finger swipe capabilities.

The Exacq mobile app now supports viewing event monitors that have been configured within the exacqVision client. Event monitoring ensures mobile app users are aware of the most important video relating to events like motion detection, alarms and other triggered inputs to the system.

Exacq mobile also introduces a new two-finger swipe navigation for faster review of all camera views. Users can swipe to the left to load the next set of cameras into the viewing layout.

The web client now has a server configuration page for monitoring and managing servers.

Administrators can back up the settings of all exacqVision servers across the enterprise at one time. Users can also specify which servers are backed up with a filter.

ESM Open and Unacknowledged Events

View all open events as well as new, incoming unacknowledged events within one dashboard in ESM. This prevents the user from switching back and forth from two different lists. Under the list section in the dashboard is a new option “Open or Unacknowledged Events” which includes both lists into one.

ESM Filter Indication

ESM users can see a visual indication when filters are active on a page. This icon prevents a user from getting confused why all results are not showing. A new clear filter button allows users to clear a data filter without having to open the filter dialog.

exacqVision Groups Enhancements

The exacqVision 6.8 groups page allows you to create logical groups of cameras and other items connected to one or more systems. This is useful when you have a large number of cameras spread across multiple buildings or a campus, and you would like to place cameras in logically named groups such as first floor or second floor instead of viewing your cameras in default groups based on their connection to the systems.

With exacqVision 6.8, you can now upload and assign custom icons to groups, making it easier to find groups of interest at a glance. You can now also sort items within a group.

Groups

VideoPush for Exacq Mobile

exacqVision 6.8 now supports video push to mobile devices. VideoPush gives exacqVision Enterprise users the ability to instantly push selected cameras, layouts, tours, groups or entire views to another exacqVision client monitor, such as a public view monitor (PVM), video wall and now to mobile devices.

This feature allows video to be sent and shared with officers on patrol or other remotely stationed personnel for on-the-go collaboration. For example, when users identify a suspicious event occurring in an area, the video can immediately be pushed directly to the mobile device of a person closest to that area.

video push mobile

VideoPush is available in the exacqVision Enterprise VMS at no extra cost, with no limitation on the number of public view monitors, video wall, or mobile device connections.

Exacq Mobile H.264 and other Mobile Improvements

Several usability improvements have been added to Exacq Mobile in this release including:

  • H.264 video compression format (also known as MPEG-4) playback support for iOS, Android, and Windows phone devices. This enhancement saves bandwidth and CPU on the server running the web service. The video is either streamed or transcoded to H.264 based on mobile device performance
  • Improved mobile device responsiveness, allowing touch-drag of cameras to display camera freeze frame while dragging
  • Pressed Exacq Mobile buttons now clearly show the pressed-button state
  • Exacq Mobile icons have been redesigned for better visibility and recognition

Exacq Mobile

  • View cameras by group, as defined in the exacqVision client. With support for groups, Exacq Mobile users can quickly view relevant cameras.
  • The Web Client now offers more configuration support of exacqVision recorders, including the System Information page and Add Cameras page, with the ability to enable/disable cameras and manually add new cameras.

Enterprise System Manager (ESM) Version 3.2

ESM Backup Configuration

Automate the backup of recorder configurations in Enterprise System Manager (ESM) 3.2. Administrators can schedule backups (exports) of multiple recorder configurations at once. These backups are stored on the ESM server and can be restored (imported) to the recorder to “reset” the recorder to a known earlier good state. This ability to configure and schedule exports on multiple servers simultaneously eases the management of large environments.

  • Export recorder configurations to ESM (backup)
  • Import recorder configuration from ESM (restore)
  • Exports are manually executed server by server
  • Imports (restores) can be scheduled and performed in bulk

ESM Event Duration Rules

Short events that occur frequently can result in hundreds or even thousands of entries in a batch email notifications. With ESM 3.2, you can filter those events from triggering multiple notifications using the new “lasts for at least” rule. This ensures that the event duration lasts long enough to warrant a notification.

Last for at least rule

ESM Bulk Server Edits

You can now edit all of the servers in the ESM server list using the new bulk edits option. Click on the new bulk edit iconbulk edit icon to update basic connection properties that should be the same on every recorder. The bulk edits feature also allows you to delete all servers in the list .

ESM Failover for exacqVision

The new Enterprise System Manager (ESM) Failover feature ensures the high availability of mission critical security video and data. ESM Failover helps avoid downtime by:

  • Continually monitoring exacqVision recorders for possible failures
  • Automatically moving functionality to “spare” servers in the rare event of a failure
  • Manual ESM Failover mode for maintenance of exacqVision recorders

Monitor

Restore recording functionality within minutes!

15 secondsHow fast is ESM Failover?
ESM failover is designed to detect a server failure within 15-30 seconds. This setting is configurable, so a long delay could be set to avoid failover during a reboot, for example. A manual failover mode also exists for performing tasks like system maintenance. In the event of an actual system failure, the spare recorder can be up and running within a matter of minutes.

Failover

What Fails Over?

  • Z-SeriesCameras
  • Recording Schedules
  • Users
  • Event Linking
  • Saved layouts, Views, Groups and Maps
  • Serial Profiles
  • Archiving configuration
  • Notification Rules
  • Auto Export Rules

Failover does not change the network identity of the protected recorder or spare in order to prevent duplicate IP addresses. Analog cameras and analog inputs are not part of ESM Failover due to wiring requirements of analog devices. Also note that the spare server storage doesn’t need to match the protected server, but should simply provide enough storage for anticipated downtime.

Failback
ESM will automatically failback to the protected recorder when available. The video from a failover remains on the spare server until manually moved back to the protected server.

Failover Requirements

Failover requires spare recorders, typically in the same family as the primary recorder, each with enough capacity to store video for the anticipated duration of the downtime. Failover also requires exacqVision camera licenses for the cameras being recorded. ESM Failover requires the Enterprise Server Option on an exacqVision server along with ESM running on a separate server.

EasyConnect Enhancements

The EasyConnect feature on the exacqVision VMS allows users to find, assign, address and connect certain IP cameras to their network automatically. EasyConnect enhancements in exacqVision 6.6 keeps the camera list fresh, guides administrators to the camera configuration page, and links to camera connection diagnostics to simplify the process even more.

New User Views Functionality

exacqVision 6.6 now allows users to create views based on user permission settings. This feature allows Administrators and Power Users to control the camera views for specific users. It also allows individuals to create personal views that cannot be used by any other exacqVision user.

User Views

Updated Event Monitoring

Event monitors automate client reactions to events (for example displaying a video of the front door when the front door is accessed). When used properly, event monitors convey situational awareness in busy environments to active users. exacqVision 6.6 provides increased flexibility and power to always display the most important video using the Event Monitor feature.

  • Use Event Monitoring to always keep YOUR most important live video in front of your users
  • Now with faster and easier set up of Event Monitoring rules
  • Apply new filters to the event list to find specific events
  • Drag any camera into Event Monitoring panel to see video

Simplified and Automated Software Updates
Automated and remote updating of your exacqVision software is a centralized, time-saving way of making sure you have the latest software on your systems.

REMOTE SERVER UPDATES (available with any server running exacqVision) – With version 5.4, you can now update the server software on a system remotely. With internet access enabled, exacqVision will check for available server software updates from exacq.com and will download the newest update based on your SSA end date.  If the server does not have internet access, the update can be downloaded and installed on a network drive with a specified location for the server to perform the update. Once configured, the system will display the status of the update during installation and provide an audit log.
exacqVision Remote UpdatesAUTOMATED MULTI-SERVER UPDATES (available with exacqVision Enterprise and EHM option) – The exacqVision Enterprise Health Manager (EHM) now supports automated scheduled updates of multiple servers. Closed system updates can be accomplished by downloading the update and installing it on a network accessible drive. A valid SSA and Enterprise license is required.

New Camera Configuration Page
exacqVision
5.4 offers a completely redesigned camera page on the Camera Recording and Enterprise Cameras pages. With this new design, subsets of cameras can be selected using filters on the left side of the screen. Selected cameras can then be configured all at once rather than individually. This should greatly speed up the camera setup process for large installations.

Exacq at ISC West 2012

Exacq at ISC West 2012ISC West 2012 just wrapped up in Las Vegas. It was a busy and successful show for us. Our new, larger booth enjoyed extremely heavy traffic throughout the three-day show; our products were on display in a number of third-party integration partner booths, and we previewed new products, including:

exacqVision Edge Our new exacqVision Edge product, a complete Enterprise VMS server running on an IP camera, was featured. Initially supporting Axis IP cameras with ARTPEC 3 & 4 processors, exacqVision Edge loads directly onto the IP camera. Edge provides complete exacqVision Enterprise functionality without the need for an external server. Edge cameras appear in the camera tree just like cameras from any other server, and can be mixed and matched with existing exacqVision servers. Ideal for add-on cameras to existing systems where additional servers are too costly or not practical, for wireless outdoor cameras where consistent network connectivity is an issue, for short-term or covert deployment where there is no network connectivity, and for installations requiring distributed storage for high reliability. Ease of deployment for integrators: install and configure exacqVision Edge at the shop, then simply ship the cameras to the site for mounting and POE connection to network.

ISC West 2012

exacqVision 4.9 – Our latest release, Version 4.9, includes extensive new Search and Playback features, including Thumbnail Search. Finding the desired video is faster and easier than ever, and thumbnail search is ideal for low-bandwidth remote connections. Other new features include significant client video display speed improvements, new enhancements to exacqVision Video Wall including switched Views on alarm, enhanced Maps with integrated Soft Triggers, server management enhancements with new S.M.A.R.T. monitoring capability, new Hikvision native IP camera support, new fisheye IP camera support from Vivotek and ACTi, new encoder support from Axis, and more.

exacqVision Surveillance Keybaordexacq Mobile 2.4 – The latest exacq Mobile release features significantly faster initialization and start times, true full-screen mode, easier add-camera functionality, and new support for the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet, in addition to Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android phones and tablets.

exacqVision Surveillance Keyboard – The new Surveillance Keyboard was shown, an ideal add-on to exacqVision systems. PTZ Joystick, 10 button numeric entry, 16 user defined buttons, left/right arrow wheel, and firmware custom-designed for exacqVision VMS.

Elsewhere on the show floor, exacqVision integration with IP cameras was featured in the Samsung booth, in the Bosch booth, in the IQinVision booth (running Edge), in the CNB booth, and in the StarDot booth. On the Access Control side, exacqVision integration with PremiSys Access Control system was featured in the IDenticard booth, and integration with S2 NetBox and S2 Pronto Access Control systems was featured in the S2 Security booth. Distribution partners Anixter and ADI were also highlighting exacqVision.

exacqVision Case Study: 600 Brickell High-Rise

600 BrickellThe February issue of Security Sales & Integration magazine contains a new installation case study, written by Rodney Bosch, of 600 Brickell high-rise in Miami, involving the integration of exacqVision VMS, Gallagher access control, EasyLobby visitor management, Gunnebo optical turnstiles, Thyssen Krupp elevator control, Vivotek IP cameras, and more. The integrator was Security Innovative Solutions (SIS) in Davie, FL.

The story starts out:

600 BrickellRising above Miami’s financial district, the new Brickell World Plaza is the Sunshine State’s first commercial real estate tower to be pre-certified platinum under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). Also referred to as 600 Brickell, the 40-story structure, which topped out in March 2011, is in fact one of only a handful of buildings like it in the world with a LEED rating of platinum.

With a goal to represent a new standard for technology in office development, 600 Brickell’s developer likewise sought to fortify the tower with state-of-the-art electronic security systems. To that end, Security Innovative Solutions (SIS) of Davie, Fla., was commissioned to provide the access control and video surveillance systems based on its advanced integration design philosophy and ample experience with other tower projects.

The original Pelco security system was being replaced:

“JMA brought us in because of the antiquation and the lack of scalability of the original security system,” says SIS Project Executive Maurice Gerovitz. “It was more designed to lasso the building owner and keep them tied down with licensing all different types of things for a long time.”

Discussing the equipment used:

A big motive for selecting the (Vivotek) 2-megapixel cameras was the capability for Exacq’s video management system (VMS) client to provide full digital p/t/z functionality, offering superior clarity for even facial recognition purposes. SIS installed two exacqVision Z-Series servers. These are standard off-the-shelf products; no major modifications were made to the hardware or software.

“The Z-Series is designed to meet the performance and storage requirements of enterprise video surveillance deployments and was clearly the right fit for this application,” notes Scott Dennison, senior product manager for Exacq Technologies. “While one of the servers is an IP camera server designed solely for network cameras, the other is a hybrid, which allows them to bring in analog and IP cameras on a single server.”

The networked cameras are spread out on the two servers and accessed via the VMS client in the tower’s 24/7 security command center. Since Exacq’s client software is free, the end user can deploy it anywhere to provide easy access for other security personnel and management, provided they have a network connection. …

“The exacqVision [VMS client] can be run on pretty much any workstation,” Santos explains. “My main concern from the get-go was to eliminate bottlenecks on the network. The custom computer gives us the flexibility to use up to 12 screens on the video wall. Otherwise, our solution would have to have a video wall controller with at least five different computers managing pieces of information.”

Concluding the story:

Bruner continues: “If you take into account that Brickell has a Gallagher access control system, an EasyLobby visitor management system, an ExacqVision video management solution, all integrated together with the [Gunnebo] optical turnstiles, [Thyssen Krupp] floor-by-floor elevator control, E-mail and SMS text notification, and photo ID badging, it is truly an integrated system.”

Our thanks to exacqVision integrator Security Innovative Solutions for this successful deployment.
