Read how PowerSeries Neo handles a complex employment roster and associated security for a number of school buildings for the Travis Unified School District in Vacaville and Fairfield, Calif.:

The Challenges

The Travis Unified School District in California,  includes five elementary schools, two of which are within the perimeter of Travis Air Force Base, a middle school, comprehensive high school, alternative high school and a community day school. The constantly –changing roster  implies many time-consuming processes each time a single person was added.

School

Being able to remotely monitor alarm activity was high on the district’s wishlist to cut down on physical check-ups on sounding alarms to determine whether they were real or false, The district also desired to be able to control their security system through a single easy-to-use interface. Another challenge to both personnel time and the school’s budget was the maintenance required on the individual door sensors. Insufficient battery life required batteries to be changed out every two or three years on the alarmed doors. Additionally, the school district was under a mandate to eliminate phone landlines as its alarm system
backbone.

Working in concert with its integrator, Alarmtech in Vacaville, California, the Travis Unified School District selected DSC’s scalable PowerSeries Neo hybrid solution to cater to the complexities which their campuses presented.
