More detailed audit trail information

Administrators can now better monitor server activity by logging more detailed system information, such as which segments of a recorded video clip were watched and by whom, and then export that information in a variety of report formats. 

Better user experience creating layouts from Groups/Views 

When creating layouts from a particular Group or View, users can now enable or disable auto-populating of cameras in the exacqVision Client. The ability to enable or disable this auto-populate feature gives users ultimate control over which cameras make up their layouts without disrupting those from other Groups or Views.

Highly customized device level permissions for specific user groups on ESM

Administrators can now assign highly customized device level permissions – whether video, audio, serial, or soft triggers – for specific user groups in ESM. For example, an administrator can grant ‘Live Only’ permissions for certain cameras, without allowing search capabilities. Setting device permissions is extremely intuitive with the list of devices grouped by NVR. NVR groupings of cameras are collapsible and expandable for fast configuration, allowing administrators to quickly and easily find and select specific cameras by name across all NVRs.

Seamless camera inspection in Enterprise System Manager

Camera inspection inside ESM is much more intuitive, now requiring zero setup to receive video streams. Enable live video viewing without complex steps such as setting up and configuring web services. With this release, ESM can natively display video from cameras, making it a breeze to perform camera inspection.

Visualization of data and trends provides actionable insight  

A new Report Mode option within the exacqVision Search page gives users the ability to interpret events captured by the VMS and make more effective business decisions based on potential trends. By better visualizing analytic, recording, and event data, security operators can more efficiently evaluate and respond to events such as aberrant ‘door open’ alarms in restricted areas or unusually high numbers of motion detected events for a certain camera. This insight provides the high level of awareness required to mitigate potentially dangerous trends.  Data sets are also exportable in a CSV format and can be imported into other BI applications, which means users aren’t limited to analyzing data solely within exacqVision.g 

 

New integration with DMP intrusion panels strengthens exacqVision as a complete security solution 

exacqVision now integrates with DMP intrusion panels, giving users more options to build their complete security solution. By leveraging this powerful integration, users can arm, disarm, and bypass zones and partitions from the exacqVision client, as well as use DMP alarms to trigger other events within exacqVision. The ability to seamlessly execute arm/disarm actions vs. simply receiving alarm system events is an important distinction from other VMS systems’ intrusion integrations, and allows customers to better protect their businesses.   

 

Ensure Undisrupted Security  

Continuous recording with Axis cameras, even in network loss 

exacqVision 9.6 now supports direct SD video recording capabilities with Axis cameras, minimizing lost video due to unexpected network or NVR outage.  With this feature enabled in Axis cameras, motion events are always recording to the SD card.  If connection is lost between the camera and NVR, the video that was recorded during that time will transfer back to the exacqVision NVR upon reconnection and is automatically stored at the correct date and time. This offers peace of mind to customers who use one of the industry’s most popular camera lines to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. 

 

Encrypted video streams from Axis and Samsung cameras  

The growing complexity and interconnectivity of security systems has driven the need for more secure communication between cameras and video servers, and exacqVision 9.6 now offers an optional feature to encrypt the video streams from Axis and Samsung cameras to the video server. Encrypting the video stream ensures data can only be interpreted by the server itself, meaning any third-party that intercepts this stream is unable to decrypt or make use of this data in any way. This additional layer of security offers the cyber protection necessary to keep a customer’s system continually secured. 

More Intuitive, Global Experience   

Select Default Client Language  

Already known to be an intuitive VMS, exacqVision 9.6 further simplifies the experience by allowing users to specify the language they want the exacqVision Client to display in, as well as easily switch languages without requiring complicated changes to the computer settings. Not only does this eliminate tedious and error-prone processes for the user, it simplifies region-specific installation and support for integrators.

exacqVision 7.6, the latest release of exacqVision video management system (VMS) software, is now available from Exacq.

exacqVision 7.6 highlights:

Improved Client Video Performance

The exacqVision client will leverage hardware H.264 decoding if present to improve the Windows, Linux and Mac client performance. Hardware acceleration increases H.264 decoding performance. To enable client hardware acceleration, go to client options and click the Calibrate button. After running the calibration, you will receive a recommended level of GPU decoding, which you can adjust with the slider bar.

The amount of performance boost hardware decoding provides will vary by the GPU resources available on the machine. For a Broadwell i7 CPU, CPU usage decreased by up to 50% for 16 camera layouts and rendered frames per second increased by 30% for 48 camera layouts.

Area Zoom

In live view, users can utilize area zoom for pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras. This allows a user to draw a box around a specific region to instantly optically zoom in to see greater detail on objects or people in the distance. Simply hold control and left click to draw the box around the area to zoom in on. This new feature is available for Axis and Illustra PTZ cameras used within exacqVision.

Second Reviewer

For European customers, exacqVision has added the ability to configure enhanced privacy restrictions requiring a second reviewer to view the live video or review recorded video. Add the option to require two people to enter passwords for live, search and export actions. By default this feature is disabled. To enable this feature, contact Technical Support for a special configuration key to import on the Systems page, security tab.

Mapping

Within the maps page, configure a new map, add an icon and map image. Right click the camera on the map and select the new option Show Field of View. Drag the field of view to cover the appropriate area. The new functionality also allows the field of view color to be updated to a preset list of more than 10 color options. Simply right click and select Field of View Color to change the color so it appears better on the screen. Drag and drop maps and child maps anywhere on the list.

Windows 10 Support

The exacqVision client and server now support Windows 10.

Faster Discovery & Camera Reconnection

The exacqVision client can now automatically discover exacqVision servers on the network. Instead of having to manually type in the IP address range and brute force scan through each address, the client will automatically scan when the client is opened. Clicking the Find button on the find systems tab will initiate a rescan to find new servers.

When a network outage occurs, exacqVision will reconnect to the camera. The IP reconnection interval has been updated to reconnect every 15 seconds for up to 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, it will attempt to reconnect every 60 seconds for up to 1 hour. After 1 hour, it will go back to searching every 5 minutes. This reconnection is available for Illustra, Axis and Arecont Vision cameras.

Exacq Mobile Search

Exacq mobile_searchExacq Mobile has enhanced search functionality. Users can quickly select a pre-defined search range from 1 minute to 30 minutes or enter a custom time search to set your own time perimeters by clicking the search icon in the upper right hand corner. In the custom time search, users can easily select the hour and minutes from the clock icon. Select up to 4 cameras to view search results.
The new toolbar layout offers easier navigation for layouts, VideoPush, Cycling through cameras and searching. VideoPush allows you to push live video to any other client. The new Cycle Through Cameras icon takes you to the next two cameras on the list. To cycle through cameras, you can also do a two-finger swipe to the left or right to navigate to cameras.

Enterprise System Manager (ESM) Remote Updates

Administrators can now perform software updates. The improved available versions page provides ESM users with quick identification of the current versions of exacqVision clients, web services and ESM itself installed across the entire environment. The Available Versions page has been updated to the Running Versions page. It shows new headers for versions, product, platform name, count and actions. Receive notifications at the top when newer versions are available.
Enterprise-System-Manager_version
Users can update all exacqVision clients and web services connected to ESM directly from one interface. To schedule an update, click on the calendar icon at the top next to Web Services. Simply adjust servers to update in the servers to schedule drop down menu and then select the servers you would like updated. In the additional data, you can add notes. For ESM to update itself, there is a new light bulb icon in the footer. Clicking the light bulb will allow you to schedule a system update for ESM. Users will see a message informing them the system will be going down for an update.

The web client now supports exacqReplay. Simply right click the camera view to replay the video in increments of 5 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes or 15 minutes. This will open a new pop-up window or new tab in the current browser instance.

Enterprise System Manager Coordination

In Enterprise System Manager, administrators can ensure only one user is actively making changes to the server with the new server management feature. In environments where multiple ESM servers are used, the first ESM instance will define itself as the owner of the server, while other ESM servers will no longer have the ability to change settings. This new functionality automatically syncs actions being performed across multiple servers.

exacqVision 7.0 introduces Camera Links, which allow exacqVision users to configure overlay controls that will display when hovering over a camera in live view. Camera Links give exacqVision Professional and Enterprise users the ability to put their most important commands at their fingertips and improve their response time to critical alarms and events.

Camera Links are completely customizeable. Users can adjust the text color, font, style, transparency and location on screen to fit the specific camera view needs from the camera settings page. Under the associations tab, users can select the available controls, associated controls and display options.

EasyConnect Status Messages

The EasyConnect feature on the exacqVision VMS software allows users to find, assign, address and connect certain IP cameras to their network automatically. Camera connection in exacqVision 7.0 has been improved to show more detailed connection status feedback when connecting Illustra IP cameras and exacqVision E-Series encoders. There are now more than 20 unique status messages. Each message is color-coded for fast identification of issues. Users can hover over the status for troubleshooting guidance. Connection messages include:

  • Duplicate IP address
  • Address not responding
  • Address found but device not responding
  • Wrong username/password
  • Video not streaming
  • Camera time unsynchronized

Automatic Check for Client Updates

Check for UpdatesThe exacqVision client can now be configured to automatically check for new updates. To enable the automatic check, go to the “About” button in the client and check the new option, “Automatically check for updates.” The client will check 30 seconds after it opens for new updates.

Visual Hard Drive Storage Status

exacqVision 7.0 adds a graphical representation of hard drive status for exacqVision systems equipped with RAID storage such as the exacqVision Z-Series, A-Series and S-Series. When a drive failure occurs, exacqVision users will see a display that indicates the physical location of the drive that needs replaced, minimizing the risk of removing the wrong drive. Go to the storage page under the hardware tab to see the graphic assessment of the hard drive status.

Several improvements to Exacq mobile have been added in this release including event monitoring and two-finger swipe capabilities.

The Exacq mobile app now supports viewing event monitors that have been configured within the exacqVision client. Event monitoring ensures mobile app users are aware of the most important video relating to events like motion detection, alarms and other triggered inputs to the system.

Exacq mobile also introduces a new two-finger swipe navigation for faster review of all camera views. Users can swipe to the left to load the next set of cameras into the viewing layout.

The web client now has a server configuration page for monitoring and managing servers.

ESM Bulk Save Server Configuration

Administrators can back up the settings of all exacqVision servers across the enterprise at one time. Users can also specify which servers are backed up with a filter.

ESM Open and Unacknowledged Events

View all open events as well as new, incoming unacknowledged events within one dashboard in ESM. This prevents the user from switching back and forth from two different lists. Under the list section in the dashboard is a new option “Open or Unacknowledged Events” which includes both lists into one.

ESM users can see a visual indication when filters are active on a page. This icon prevents a user from getting confused why all results are not showing. A new clear filter button allows users to clear a data filter without having to open the filter dialog.

VideoPush for Mobile and Faster Camera Discovery Highlight the exacqVision 6.8 Release

The latest version of the exacqVision Video Management System (VMS), Version 6.8, is now available. The focus of this release centers around VideoPush for Exacq Mobile and faster camera discovery through EasyConnect. With added support for over 75 new cameras in this release and 250 new test records, the exacqVision VMS now supports nearly 2,300 IP camera models.

Faster Camera Discovery

The EasyConnect feature on the exacqVision VMS allows users to find, assign, address and connect certain IP cameras to their network automatically. Camera scanning for EasyConnect in exacqVision 6.8 has been improved to find more cameras on busy and noisy networks, including cameras on different subnets.

exacqVision Groups Enhancements

The exacqVision 6.8 groups page allows you to create logical groups of cameras and other items connected to one or more systems. This is useful when you have a large number of cameras spread across multiple buildings or a campus, and you would like to place cameras in logically named groups such as first floor or second floor instead of viewing your cameras in default groups based on their connection to the systems.

With exacqVision 6.8, you can now upload and assign custom icons to groups, making it easier to find groups of interest at a glance. You can now also sort items within a group.

VideoPush for Exacq Mobile

exacqVision 6.8 now supports video push to mobile devices. VideoPush gives exacqVision Enterprise users the ability to instantly push selected cameras, layouts, tours, groups or entire views to another exacqVision client monitor, such as a public view monitor (PVM), video wall and now to mobile devices.

This feature allows video to be sent and shared with officers on patrol or other remotely stationed personnel for on-the-go collaboration. For example, when users identify a suspicious event occurring in an area, the video can immediately be pushed directly to the mobile device of a person closest to that area.

VideoPush is available in the exacqVision Enterprise VMS at no extra cost, with no limitation on the number of public view monitors, video wall, or mobile device connections.

Exacq Mobile H.264 and other Mobile Improvements

Several usability improvements have been added to Exacq Mobile in this release including:

  • H.264 video compression format (also known as MPEG-4) playback support for iOS, Android, and Windows phone devices. This enhancement saves bandwidth and CPU on the server running the web service. The video is either streamed or transcoded to H.264 based on mobile device performance
  • Improved mobile device responsiveness, allowing touch-drag of cameras to display camera freeze frame while dragging
  • Pressed Exacq Mobile buttons now clearly show the pressed-button state
  • Exacq Mobile icons have been redesigned for better visibility and recognition

  • View cameras by group, as defined in the exacqVision client. With support for groups, Exacq Mobile users can quickly view relevant cameras.
  • The Web Client now offers more configuration support of exacqVision recorders, including the System Information page and Add Cameras page, with the ability to enable/disable cameras and manually add new cameras.

Enterprise System Manager (ESM) Version 3.2

ESM Backup Configuration

Automate the backup of recorder configurations in Enterprise System Manager (ESM) 3.2. Administrators can schedule backups (exports) of multiple recorder configurations at once. These backups are stored on the ESM server and can be restored (imported) to the recorder to “reset” the recorder to a known earlier good state. This ability to configure and schedule exports on multiple servers simultaneously eases the management of large environments.

ESM Event Duration Rules

Short events that occur frequently can result in hundreds or even thousands of entries in a batch email notifications. With ESM 3.2, you can filter those events from triggering multiple notifications using the new “lasts for at least” rule. This ensures that the event duration lasts long enough to warrant a notification.

You can now edit all of the servers in the ESM server list using the new bulk edits option. Click on the new bulk edit iconbulk edit icon to update basic connection properties that should be the same on every recorder. The bulk edits feature also allows you to delete all servers in the list .

ESM failover is designed to detect a server failure within 15-30 seconds. This setting is configurable, so a long delay could be set to avoid failover during a reboot, for example. A manual failover mode also exists for performing tasks like system maintenance. In the event of an actual system failure, the spare recorder can be up and running within a matter of minutes.

Failover does not change the network identity of the protected recorder or spare in order to prevent duplicate IP addresses. Analog cameras and analog inputs are not part of ESM Failover due to wiring requirements of analog devices. Also note that the spare server storage doesn’t need to match the protected server, but should simply provide enough storage for anticipated downtime.

ESM will automatically failback to the protected recorder when available.The video from a failover remains on the spare server until manually moved back to the protected server.

Failover requires spare recorders, typically in the same family as the primary recorder, each with enough capacity to store video for the anticipated duration of the downtime. Failover also requires exacqVision camera licenses for the cameras being recorded. ESM Failover requires the Enterprise Server Option on an exacqVision server along with ESM running on a separate server.
